It’s much easier to think about it than to do it, though. With so many worthy causes out there it can be easy to become desensitized to the impact we could make at any time. How many times have you been driving through Edmond and seen someone selling The Curbside Chronicle on, well, the curb? There are opportunities to make a difference in front of us daily, and due to that we often look past them.
We’re asking you to shift your paradigm.
We’re raising money for our veterans via Midwest Jeepfest. This isn’t some faceless national charity, this for Paralyzed Veterans of America, Mid-America chapter. The funds raised do not go to the national organization. The funds raised are specifically for our local chapter and for veterans like our friend Bill.
Don’t worry, we’re not going to push the hard sell on you because that’s not who we are, but we do want to give our best effort to help our vets.
We’ve had folks donate anything from $5 all the way to $200, but we have sincerely appreciated every single donation because it’s helping us reach our goal of $20,000 raised for our veterans through Midwest Jeepfest 2021.

Clint Graves, winner of the 2021 John Vance 19-and-under Tie-Down Roper Award, came by Vance in Guthrie for a press and fan meet and greet.
Clint is a young man from Oxford, Kansas who is being touted as a champion in the making. Recently, on July 14th, we got the chance to spend some time with Clint, and we were thoroughly impressed by his professionalism. During a photo op with the Vance-branded saddle, John Vance himself was able to meet this rising star. Clint has aspirations of making it to the professional level and competing in world-wide competitions like the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, and from the level of skill he has displayed so far, we don’t doubt he’ll make it happen.

When you’re looking for family-friendly events around Oklahoma City, sometimes you’re willing to take a little hike to find the perfect destination.
Meet Red Brick Nights in Guthrie, Oklahoma. It’s close enough to the city that several dealership employees make the commute every morning, and you’ll be greeted by one of the prettiest historic downtowns in the state. It’s no exaggeration to say that downtown Guthrie is gorgeous.

You don’t even need a Jeep to attend this FREE offroading event in Guthrie, as we allow all full-sized 4×4 vehicles to take on our course and anyone can spectate.

What is the difference between AWD and 4WD?
What’s the difference between 4wd and awd?
It’s a question we’ve all had to figure out at one point or another, and there’s no shame in asking for clarification on the subject. After all, they sound roughly the same, right? All wheels? There are four of them driving, so isn’t that all of them?
The answer is simple and easy, but there are a plethora of different ways that Four-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive systems operate that are specialized for the intent of the vehicle. Some trucks are meant to conquer every piece of terrain in sight, but some aren’t. -and, likewise, some cars just need the capability to drive through snow and harsh road conditions, while some are perfectly fine and purpose-built for sunny-day optimal weather driving only.
Typically, but not always, all-wheel drive is meant to get you through tough weather conditions or limited stretches of less-developed roads. When you’re looking at hardcore offroaders like what you’d take out to Little Sahara park in Oklahoma, you’re not typically considering bringing an AWD Volkswagen Tiguan out for dune-riding.
This is why you’ll often see sedans, crossovers, coupes, and hatchbacks with AWD systems, because they’re not meant for mudding, blazing new trails, or rock-crawling. They just need to be able to handle entry-level situations. Last year, when we had the massive ice-storms sweep Oklahoma and cause untold destruction to roads, it was almost critical to have more than a front-wheel or rear-wheel drive system, as the road conditions were slick and dangerous.
Life doesn’t just hit pause when the weather takes a turn for the worst, however, and the Okies who had something like a Honda Pilot with AWD were able to safely and efficiently navigate to work, the grocery store, and Byrons.
If you’re looking to head out to some local Oklahoma ORV parks or quasi-legally explore the trails behind electric lines, you’re likely looking for a 4×4 system.
What’s the difference between 4×4 and 4WD? Not a thing. It’s just a matter of semantics, and people will understand what you mean regardless of which you use. Hardcore offroad vehicles like the Wrangler Rubicon OKC, Ram Power Wagon, and the new Ram TRX all come with four-wheel drive because they’re more than just snowry road handling machines. Every now and then you’ll run into a 4WD sedan, like the exceptionally odd AMC Eagle, but that’s moreso the exception than the rule.

2022 Ford Maverick – the newest Compact Pickup Truck in Edmond Oklahoma
After months and months of living on crumbs of details leaked from Ford, we’ve finally been given official confirmation of the 2022 Ford Maverick.
You may remember many months ago when a leaked Ford factory image showcased the “Maverick” nameplate on the tailgate of a truck, but this is the first time Ford has officially confirmed that yes, the new truck we’ve been eyeing in spy shots for so long will be called the Maverick.
The wait is finally over, and you’re now able to reserve the 2022 Ford Maverick in Edmond at your local Ford dealership, Vance Country Ford. There’s only a small deposit needed to lock yours in, but you’ll have to act fast to get a good place in line for this truck release. This is the smaller truck that we’ve all been waiting for, and it’ll be just as compatible with city living as it will be with rural living.
In Ford released images, we can clearly see hybrid badging on the tailgate. Now that the release is well-underway, we know for a fact that there’s a hybrid powertrain in the 2022 Ford Maverick.
This revelation is in tune with the direction Ford is headed, as they recently revealed the new F-150 Lightning, an all-electric truck. While we’re hoping (possibly without reason) for an all-electric Ford Maverick (Which some have already brilliantly dubbed the Lil Lightning), it’s certain we’ll get an entirely internal combustion engine Maverick in addition to the hybrid.
As the new Ford Maverick in Edmond will be built on the same platform as the Bronco Sport, it’s highly likely that these new compact trucks will be equipped similarly to the Bronco Sport, with packages like Badlands and the Wildtrak. That was our theory at first, but we’ve been made aware that this new compact truck will come with similar trim names to the F-150.
Not many trucks can rake in an extravagant 40 miles-per-gallon like the 2022 Maverick near me, but it can do that while also packing a 1500-lb standard payload capacity. Not just that, however, but it also has 2000 lb base towing capacity and up to 4000-lb available max towing capability, making its ability mammoth to its proportions..
This affordable, efficient truck has enough space inside for you and your family without compromising the bed space you need for hauling around all your goodies.
Not only is its hybrid powertrain smart, but the technology inside like standard Android Auto and Apple Carplay is also a cutting-edge tech feature that sets the new Ford Maverick in Guthrie apart from offerings like the Honda Ridgeline.

Vehicles aren’t cheap. New trucks, especially, are not cheap, and that’s not even counting new electric trucks. In order to make the purchase cost more feasible, federal tax credits take up to thousands of dollars off of the price you paid for your new electric vehicle. What complicates things, however, is finding what electric vehicles qualify for the federal EV tax credit.
The first qualifier for the tax credit is that the vehicle must have been made in a factory to be an electric vehicle from genesis. This means that electric vehicle conversions do not qualify for the EV credit, even though they’re still promoting a less emission-heavy lifestyle.
To qualify for the federal EV credit, the truck (in this case the 2022 F-150 Lightning) cannot weigh more than 14,000 pounds. You’re in luck with this truck, as the new electric Ford only weighs about half of that figure.
Yet another qualifier that the 2022 F-150 Lightning in OKC meets is that it must rely on an electric motor for the majority of its power. As you likely know by now, the new F-150 Lightning is all-electric, so 100% of its power is relying on its electric motors.
The tax credit only applies to the first purchase of the new vehicle, so if you have decided to lease your electric vehicle, you’re out of luck.

It’s worth noting that your experience claiming the federal EV credit for the 2022 Ford Lightning may not play out like you’re thinking. As with all government incentives, it’s difficult to claim and may ring in at a lower figure than you anticipate. The way that this amount comes to you is via a reduction to the tax liability you have.
In order to make the most of this tax credit, you’ll have to already make enough each year to be sent a tax bill for $7,500 and up. If you still meet the qualifications with both your income and choice in vehicle, then you can save some serious money with the EV tax credit in Oklahoma.
